Chievo vs. Udinese

These clubs had identical records going into the Stadio Bentegodi, winning four, losing four and drawing two. Chievo were without Luca Rigoni and Fabio Moro, while Udinese had Basta suspended, Christian Obodo, Damiano Ferronetti, Maurizio Domizzi and Mauricio Isla sidelined.

Chievo had the first chance three minutes in when Pablo Granoche's header was deflected inches past the post from a Nicolas Frey cross.

Samir Handanovic flew to fingertip another Granoche header out of the top corner from close range. From the corner Handanovic got down to block another towering Mantovani header.

Udinese took the lead somewhat against the run of play. Substitute Lodi's long ball from midfield was chested forward by Floro Flores for a left-foot angled drive into the far bottom corner.

Chievo went so close to an equaliser just before the break, as Sergio Pellissier surged forward and Granoche at full stretch failed to make contact with the pass.

Chievo created a wonderful move when Iori sent Pellissier down the right and he pulled back for an acrobatic Simone Bentivoglio volley which Handanovic fingertipped out from under the bar.

On 70 minutes they deservedly drew level, as Handanovic did what he could to deny a Yepes looping header that ricocheted in off the inside of the far post, but got there after it had crossed the line. Marcolini had whipped in the free kick.
