Bologna doubled their lead on the hour mark with Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, who was allowed a totally free header on the cross from the left flank.

Maccarone's strike stung Viviano's palms, then Adailton curled another trademark free kick on to the crossbar.

In the final minutes Siena got a consolation when Calaio got a glancing header to the cross from the left. Massimo Marazzina wasted the chance to make the points safe when he failed to make the most of a Francesco Valiani cross.
