Livorno vs. Palermo

There are worries for Nelson Rivas, who was stretchered off unconscious.

The Amaranto were still looking for their first win and above all had scored only once this season, with Cristiano Lucarelli in Week 2. Palermo were fresh from beating Juventus 2-0, but had picked up just one point from an available nine on their travels. Both Coaches made tactical substitutions at the break, introducing Tomas Danilevicius and Antonio Nocerino. It proved inspired, as Danilevicius broke the deadlock by stretching to redirect a wayward Pulzetti cross-shot from the edge of the box.

It lasted all of two minutes before Palermo equalised, Fabio Simplicio threaded through for Fabrizio Miccoli to delicately chip the goalkeeper from seven yards.

Livorno wasted a golden opportunity when Candreva's snapshot was parried into the path of Pulzetti, who shinned it well over from seven yards.

Danilevicius thought he had scored a second, but it was correctly flagged offside.

Instead, moments later Palermo went 2-1 up. Miccoli's through ball into the box sparked the move and the cross found a Federico Balzaretti volley in the middle.

Cristiano Lucarelli wanted a penalty for his tussle with Simon Kjaer late on, but the referee waved play on.
