Report

Samuel Eto'o scored on his Serie A debut, but Inter were still sensationally held to a 1-1 draw by Bari and risked defeat at San Siro! Inter created the first chance after six minutes with Milito and Eto'o duetting in the box for the Cameroon striker's low drive parried by the 'keeper's foot. However, moments later Sforzini just failed to get the final touch on a smart Edgar Alvarez assist to the six-yard box. Bari saw a surprising amount of the ball in the first half and Vieira was booked for bringing down Riccardo Allegretti on the very edge of the box as the creative midfielder was charging clear on goal. Allegretti curled the free kick over the wall and into Julio Cesar's arms at the near post. Milito should've opened the scoring on 26 minutes, as he sprung the offside trap on a chipped Vieira pass over the defence, only to balloon over from six yards. Inter were struggling to make an impact, so Mourinho made a tactical change less than half an hour in, introducing Mario Balotelli for Muntari and a 4-3-3 system. Alvarez was a constant danger down his right flank and Sforzini again just failed to make contact even though Lucio slipped. Gillet plucked a Douglas Maicon strike out of the air, but Milito caused a shock when his deflected cross flashed all the way along the goalline. Balotelli's free kick went wide and Thiago Motta drilled inches past the post from the D after a well-worked move, though Materazzi was perhaps fortunate to avoid a straight red card for a crunching tackle on Alvarez at the touchline.
